You take notes on the first chapter of the book "Electromagnetic Compatibility" by David Weston. You've now learned a few things about electromagnetic interference (EMI)that electromagnetic interference can cause problems ranging from telephone static through a misbehaving garage door to the crash of a plane, that it travels via electric fields or magnetic fields, that it behaves differently if the source is nearby or distant, that it can come from both natural and manmade sources, that it can radiate through the air or be conducted by metal, and that it may take the form either of broadband noise that covers a wide range of frequencies, or narrowband signals which are only one frequency (notes).
